Music, Masque and Murder at the Jacobean Court [London]
Wednesday 13 November 2024
19:30 to 20:30
The Lovekyn Consort will set the scene at the early seventeenth-century court with readings from a new biography 'The Scapegoat' about the life of George Villiers, later Lord Buckingham; surrounding these will be songs and tunes from the masques in which he danced, reflecting his life and career at court.
This programme will take place within the Golden Hinde - an exact replica of Francis Drake's ship of exploration. To buy tickets, please click HERE.
Doors will open at 7, as will the bar, so that visitors can take a look around this fascinating space. Almost everyone will need to take care not to bump their heads on the low ceilings! Afterwards, the bar will remain open, and Lucy Hughes-Hallett will be available to tell us more about her book and to sign copies.
