Merger on the dance floor [London]
Thursday 24 October 2024
19:00 to 21:30
Bloomsbury Baroque return to their main home for the exciting Bloomsbury Festival [click for details] which includes new music, poetry, drama and art as well as Popular and Classical music with links to the area.
We will perform music from the varied communities of eighteenth-century London, most notably featuring Ignatius Sancho - who started life in slavery and ended as a respected man of letters and commerce in London.
After an hour of music, there will be an interval and change of scenery - and then a hour of mid-Georgian dancing - much of it with music written and choreographed by Sancho. You will be able to learn and join in some of these dances - Gerogian dress optional! - and the concert band will turn into a dance band.

The dancing will be demonstrated, led and taught by Mrs Bennet; for more information about her dance school, please take a look at Mrs Bennet's Ballroom.
