Ibrahim Aziz describes and illustrates the use of this beguling instrument, from its central position as a solo and ensemble instrument in Renaissance and Baroque music to its gradual eclipse, apparent disappearance and revival in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Ibrahim Aziz is one of London's most active viol players, working both as a soloist and as an ensemble player in Chelys and The Rose Consort of Viols. He also has an extensive teaching and coaching career.

Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare [built in 1756] is a Georgian jewel in the Thames, ideally suited for both words and music.

Tickets on the door cost £16, and £14 in advance for adults HERE. Payment in advance is also possible by cash or cheque made out to Loki Music in an envelope left at Garrick's Temple. All are welcome to attend these concerts: no prior knowledge is required - just a willingness to listen.

The instrument shown is a bass viol made in England by Barak Norman in 1713, and is held by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, US [further information HERE].
