Music and dance by Sancho and Mozart [Hampton]
Saturday 03 August 2024
19:00 to 21:00
A new kind of event for Garrick's Temple: the Georgettes of Oxford [devotees of Georgian culture] will be dancing to choreographies and music by Ignatius Sancho - London man of letters in the eighteenth century, and former slave - and Mozart, who played in London and was as admired there as everywhere else in Europe.
The dancing will be accompanied by The Capability Consort, who will also play quartets and trios by Mozart, Abel and JC Bach in between the dances. They will be playing period instruments.
The Capability Consort
William Summers - Romantic Flute
Ben Sansom - Romantic Violin
Jacob Garside - Romantic Cello
Ian Watt - Romantic Guitar
Admission will cost more than usual as space is limited and costs are higher, given the number of performers: advance booking is strongly recommended.
Prices: £20 general admission;
£15 Temple volunteers, students, under-21s, £22 on the door [limited capacity for these categories]
