Shelley 200 [Hampton]
Saturday 25 March 2023
19:00 to 21:00
This year's season in Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare starts by marking the 200th anniversary of the death of Percy Byshe Shelley [1792 - 1822] with a new dramatic poem and music from his era. The poem will illuminate Shelley's journey from being thrown out of Oxford University for atheism towards the city of Rome, and this performance is the only one this year in England before the poem is performed at Keats-Shelley House in Rome in April.
Music from the Romantic period will be provided by Johan Lofving [guitar] - a versatile and accomplished player of music from the Baroque period onwards - and William Summers, the local early music specialist behind this series of concerts. Michael will play an original guitar, and William will play a flute copied from an original model of the era.
Tickets are available on the door or in advance, and discounted booking for multiple tickets will soon be available.
